Heritage & Evolution
History of
History of
NAVMS Nigeria
The Nigerian Association of Veterinary Medical Students (NAVMS) is the apex body representing veterinary medical students across all accredited Faculties and Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in Nigeria. Established in response to the growth of indigenous veterinary education in the late 1960s, NAVMS serves as a unifying platform for future veterinary professionals.
From its pioneering roots at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), University of Ibadan (UI), and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)—the historic "Big Three"—to 15 institutions today, NAVMS bridges students with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), and key agricultural and animal health stakeholders.
